Big Wheelin’ (WIP)

Jul 6th, 2009 by admin | 5

Learning Maya right now (don’t ask why, I think its a pile of) I’m mainly modeling a lot of simple shapes to get use to the tools or lack there of.

Decided to model one of my favorite childhood toys “The Big Wheel”!  I’m planning on adding a kid to just to practice modeling a organic surface in Maya.  :\

The sky is falling! I never thought I’d see the day you went back to Maya!!! Great start, the ZB sculpt looks kick ace!

I can’t believe that was done in ZBrush! Soooo cool!
Sorry about the Maya part. :P

Thanks Thomas and Fatal1. I dont plan on fully switching to maya. Right now work is being pretty cool about it, so I can still use 3ds max and just export out of maya.

yeah! Maya is hard work until you get the hang of it. But it means more efficient mesh work I guess.

I use Blender myself (can’t afford Maya, and Blender is free). In many ways Blender is like Maya, but not in others. But there is still that element of “I just want to create DAMIT!!!”

Pushing and pulling polygons all day is not fun.

However, most studios use something like Maya, so you need to know it to get the good jobs.

Saying that though, you are that talented, that I can’t see it being a problem for you. and I wish you the best of luck!

I started on Maya 9 years ago and its still as crappy as I remember it. LOL. I switched to Max when I got my first job and have never looked back. Most game studios don’t care what software you model in and at least all the ones I’ve worked for have been 3ds Max houses. That being said Blender is a great app. and if your faster in it I say use it.

    Bests,
    Gregory
