CG HUB

I gotta plug one of my favorite sites for both finding inspiration and new talent.  CGHub also just added my portfolio to the  Master gallery.  Which is pretty cool to be picked by some of my peers who I’ve always looked up too. I am in no way a master, but I’ll take it.  :P

Anytime you see 2d art on here it was most likely done as a favor. I normally moan and groan when I get a request, but once I start sketching I really enjoy simplicity of it. Sometimes I wonder why I do 3d art. I mean between fighting software and over coming all technical hurdles that  are synonymous with 3d art. You really are only doing actual art 50% of the time. That being said. I don’t think the Golden Age of Cartooning is coming back anytime soon, so for now I’ll keep slaying the beast that is 3d!

Flint vs. Zartan

Aug 2nd, 2010 by admin | 2

My first Sideshow sculpt was shown at Comic-Con this year. It’s a 12″ H x 10″ W diorama of Flint vs. Zartan. Anyone who knows me knows I am a big GI Joe fan, so getting the opportunity to work on two of my favorite  childhood toys was unreal not to mention getting to work with some the best artists and designers in the industry! I’d like to thank Adam Ross at Idol Workshop for all his help, the Sideshow Design and Development Team as well as all the other amazing craftsmen that helped produce the final product. Check out Sideshow Collectibles site for more info.

GoMax

Apr 25th, 2010 by admin | 0

I don’t normally review plugins or endorse them, but a lot of people email me asking about my workflow so I feel obligated to pass on this awesome tool. GoMax is a script that will allow you to quickly jump between Z-Brush  and  3ds Max seamlessly. Giving you the ability to edit your meshes with Max’s polytools and keep all you HiRes detail in Z-Brush. Props to Norman Schaar for writing this script. He’s both a talented scriptor and artist.
